MetLife hosts free fingerprint identification clinic

Grand Island Dispatch, June 16, 2006

On Saturday, July 1, representatives from MetLife Auto and Home, in conjunction with the Erie County Sheriff Department, Deputy Matt Baudo and Erie County Sheriff Explorer Scout Post 505, will be administering a free fingerprint ID clinic at Island Happenings/Town Commons. The clinic will be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“The issue of child safety has recently received a lot of national attention, and with good reason,” said Jim O’Rourke, clinic organizer for MetLife. “This is a great opportunity for parents to have their children professionally fingerprinted and also receive a chance to discuss the subject of child safety with local law enforcement.”

To help promote child safety, the Erie County Sheriffs Department, in partnership with MetLife Auto and Home, is offering parents a free comprehensive personal identification kit for the child that can help law enforcement respond quickly in the event the unimaginable should occur. The kit, called “All About Me,” contains a detailed questionnaire that corresponds to the national missing children database used by law enforcement organizations across the county, a full page for current photos and a fingerprint chart.

If parents are interested in receiving a kit, but unable to attend the clinic, they can receive free kits by stopping by MetLife offices at 1717 Grand Island Blvd., and asking for Jim O’Rourke.
