British soccer camp to come to Niagara Falls

Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, May 4, 2006

The Niagara Police Athletic League and Challenger Sports will hold a weeklong British Soccer Camp from Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, at Niagara Falls High School.

The camp, which is open to boys and girls, ages 4-14, teaches young players the techniques and tactics of soccer through innovative coaching methods.

Available time slots are as follows:

•Ages 4-6: 9 to 10 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

•Ages 6-9: 9 a.m. to noon.

•Ages 9-14: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each day, the children will have the opportunity to practice and master new individual skills and understand small group and team tactics through the camp’s innovative curriculum. Participants will also play scrimmage games as part of the popular Camp World Cup, a daily tournament, which is used by the camp’s coaches to teach the players about life, customs and traditions of other countries. In addition to soccer skills, the Challenger coaching staff will share their insight with players on such important lessons as respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership, and discuss how these core values relate to soccer, family and school.

Registration fees will vary, depending on the respective age group. All Niagara PAL travel players will receive a $20 discount.

Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt, soccer ball, player evaluation and an end-of-camp gift.
