St. John students graduate from D.A.R.E. program

Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, May 4, 2006

Fifth-grade students at St. John’s Lutheran School in Wheatfield recently earned their D.A.R.E. certificates after completing a 10-week program led by Deputy Maria Prygon of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department. The program taught the pupils how to solve problems involving peer pressure and what makes a good friend. They also learned how to stay drug-free by making good and appropriate choices. In order to graduate, the students had to write an essay about what they learned from D.A.R.E. that would help them to be confident enough to make the right choices in the future. Congratulations to Janelle Bartlett for winning the “Best Essay” contest. Shown in the above photo is Henry Foote’s fifth-grade class with Prygon (standing, far right).
