Count Basie Orchestra coming to Lew-Port High

The Lewiston-Porter High School is presenting a performance by the Count Basie Orchestra on Saturday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

Since its debut in 1935, the Count Basie Orchestra has been one of the most loved and respected jazz groups in the world.

The Count Basie Orchestra of today is 19 performers committed to upholding and advancing American jazz. Some members are new, yet the majority of the sound still swings from musicians hand-picked by Count Basie, himself.

The orchestra is in demand for TV and films. It has won every respected jazz poll in the world at least once and continues to accumulate awards and special recognition.
