JJ's Cabin celebrates one-year anniversary

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, May 13, 2006

JJ's Cabin Bar and Grill, 1437 Ridge Road, Lewiston, celebrates its one-year anniversary the weekend of May 27-28.

Mario Pugliese says the past year was a success, "That and more," and attributes the eatery's triumph to "a real great community that's supported us."

One of the more successful menu items is the Friday fish fry - so much so that patrons have waited in line to sample the dish.

"We're very consistent with what we do here," Pugliese said. "Our kitchen staff here is phenomenal with what they do. Our prices are reasonable, and we create a nice atmosphere."

To mark the anniversary, JJ's Cabin is hosting a "Battle of the Bands," featuring 14 popular cover bands from Western New York and Southern Ontario, including Rip and the Bandogs, The Thurman Brothers, Toast, Runaway Train and Ron Rocco and Nine Lives.

The restaurant will also offer cookouts, food and drink specials.

"It's a weekend of celebration," Pugliese said. "This event is to show appreciation for everyone who has supported us and to start the beginning of another exciting year."

Moreover, he hopes to see local politicians tending bar that weekend and helping to celebrate.

"Why not involve them here in something we're celebrating - that we've been successful," Pugliese said.

Later this summer, JJ's Cabin is participating in two American Cancer Society fund-raising events. On July 1-2, the restaurant will hold its second annual charitable event, with money going toward Lewiston's Relay For Life.

The following Sunday, July 9, the "Ride for Life" Motorcycle Run will begin at the Eastern Hills Mall at noon, and end at JJ's after the ride. The restaurant will offer food and drink specials that day, as well as a split club and auction, and live entertainment.

"I like to get involved in anything involving the community," Pugliese said. "The community has made us successful."

JJ's Cabin also hosts summer volleyball leagues. To sign-up, contact Kim Cudmare at 531-1216.
