Gleason’s gymnasts compete at Rochester meet Niagara Wheatfield Tribune, March 2, 2006 Local gymnasts of the Niagara Gymnastic Team from Gleason’s Gymnastics competed in the 19th annual Penev’s Classic Invitational meet, held at the Rochester Institute of Technology on Feb. 18. Competing in the Senior Division, Level 10 gymnast Nicole Irving of Sanborn placed third on the bars with 9.20 points. In the Level 8 Senior Division, Jessica Hoover of Wheatfield, finished third on the floor with 9.45 points, sixth on the bars with 8.775 points and sixth in the all-around event. Kelley Feather of Tonawanda placed sixth on the floor with 9.25 points. In the Junior Division, Emilie Fose won the vault competition with 9.5 points. She also finished fourth on the floor with 9.4 points and seventh in the all-around event. Kara Mangus of Wheatfield and Lauren Logar of Niagara Falls both had their best score on the beam with 8.7 points. For the Level 7 team, Breana Carroll of Wheatfield took third place on the bars in the Junior Division with 9.475 points. She also scored 9.2 points on the vault, 8.825 points on the floor. Her good individual results gave her at total score of 36.175 points and 11th place in the all-around event. Nicholl Martin of North Tonawanda took 10th place on the beam with 9.25 points. She also scored 8.95 points on the vault and finished with a total score of 35.5 points in the all-around competition. In the Senior Division, Shelinka Cunningham of Niagara Falls won the vault competition with 9.45 points. She also scored 8.8 points on the beam and finished the all-around event with a score of 35.4 points. Bailey Akin of Niagara Falls took fourth place on the floor with 9.525 points. She also scored 8.625 on the vault and placed 15th in the all-around competition with 35.0 points. Veronica Malone of North Tonawanda took 11th place on the vault with 9.0 points. In addition, she scored 8.725 points on the floor and 33.575 in the all-around event. Ashley Lavocat, also of North Tonawanda, finished in third place on the bars with 9.025 points. She also scored 8.7 points on the floor and 8.75 points on the beam. Her all-around score was 34.975 points. The Niagara Level 7-10 teams took third place in the team standings. |
