Stella Niagara launches ‘Take a Seat’ campaign Lewiston Porter Sentinel, March 25, 2006 Stella Niagara Education Park has launched its “Take A Seat” campaign, which will help improve the school’s theater and fund future scholarships. The campaign will allow current and former students, parents and friends of the school to purchase an individual seat or row that will bear their name(s) or the name(s) of their choice. Plaques bearing these names will then be placed on the seats and/or row to acknowledge their sponsorship and to provide a living tribute to their support and dedication to Stella Niagara. Since 1928 Stella Niagara’s theater has been used for graduation ceremonies, plays, special events, fund-raisers and by outside groups, such as Theatre in the Mist. Like other area schools, Stella Niagara enjoys the benefits of blending the fine arts into the regular academic schedule. “We believe that academic excellence is obtained by developing the child’s academic learning, but also his or her self-awareness, self-esteem and expression,” said Sister Margaret Sullivan, principal at Stella Niagara. “Theater is a dynamic vehicle for bringing history and current events to life. It helps to meet the needs of both educators and students through a hands-on approach.” For more information on the “Take a Seat” campaign, call 754-4314. |
