Verizon Jr. Purple Eagles win Patriot’s Day Tournament Lewiston Porter Sentinel, March 18, 2006
The Grand Niagara Verizon Junior Purple Eagles Squirt Minor Travel team won the 2006 Patriot’s Day Tournament, held Feb. 18-20 at Niagara University’s Dwyer Arena. After the Purple Eagles lost to Hamburg by a score of 4-2, the team convincingly defeated Scarborough 11-0 and Parma 2-1 to advance to the championship game. The tournament final pitted Grand Niagara once again against Parma. Playing their fourth game in three days, the Purple Eagles stayed sharp as they beat Parma 3-1 on goals by Adam Babiarz, Joey DeMunda and Ryan Ball.
