Aquarium penguins on display

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, March 18, 2006

Penguin lovers of all ages can see the flightless birds up close and personal during the annual Penguin Days at the Aquarium of Niagara on Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26.

Visitors will have the chance to meet and greet one of the Peruvian penguins outside of their regular habitat on each of the two days from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about these fascinating birds during regular penguin encounters in the Community Room.

This year’s event will include “Penguin Jeopardy”; raffles for two penguin encounters, one for each day; a penguin trivia contest with a “pail of penguin prizes” for the winner; and a broad variety of penguin gifts, including original penguin art, available for purchase in the souvenir store. “Adopt-a-Penguin” certificates can be purchased by anyone wishing to help feed and care for a penguin.

The Aquarium’s regular schedule of California sea lion demonstrations and harbor seal feedings will continue as usual.

Penguin encounters are included in the regular admissions. Admission to penguin encounters will be determined by availability of tickets and space.

Penguin Days are sponsored by Wegmans.
