The Lewiston-Porter All-Sports Boosters held their seventh annual scholarship basketball game at the Lew-Port High School gym on March 3.

The Lew-Port Alumni team showed no mercy as it beat the Lew-Port Teacher/Administration team soundly by a score of 65-51.

Kevin Jaruszewski was named the MVP for the Teacher/Administration team.

The Players in Progress team performed at halftime and after the third quarter. PIP coach Paula Singleton orchestrated the presentation.

After the game, all sixth graders on the team were recognized in the Lew-Port cafeteria for playing their last game as PIP members.

The children attending the basketball game also enjoyed having their faces painted by Terrie Oney, while Donuts the Clown (a.k.a. James Donoughe) made them balloon animals.

A Chinese auction featuring more than 50 baskets to be raffled off also drew plenty of attention during the game. The assortment of baskets was donated by members of the All-Sports Boosters, Apple Granny’s, Fantasy Village, Favorites Pizza, Lewiston Duty Free (Lewiston-Queenston Bridge), Lewiston-Porter United Teachers, Main Street Gas & Grille, Mangia Cakes, Steelhead Restaurant, Stuarts Sports, Tin Pan Alley, Village Bake Shoppe and Village Blossoms.

All-Sports Boosters Vice President Carol Lombardo reported that the event raised more than $1,000 for future scholarships.

Each spring, the All-Sports Boosters award two scholarships worth $500 and 10 scholarships worth $200 to deserving Lew-Port athletes.

All participants had a great time at this fund-raiser. The All-Sports Boosters thank all those who helped make this event a success.
