State farming is celebrated in ‘Extra Cheese Please’ Lewiston Porter Sentinel, March 11, 2006
Monday, March 20, is Agricultural Literacy Day in New York state. The goal of this special day is to increase awareness and understanding of agriculture in New York by having volunteers read an agriculture-themed book to students. This year, the book “Extra Cheese Please: Mozzarella’s Journey from Cow to Pizza,” will be read to second-grade classes throughout the state and then donated to the school’s library. Students from Lewiston-Porter Middle School are volunteering to be readers. They will visit Lew-Port’s Elementary Building to read and talk to younger students and their teachers about agriculture in the region. A copy of “Extra Cheese Please,” which the Middle School students have sponsored, will then be donated to the elementary/intermediate libraries. |
