O’Rourke, Stickl to compete in state meet

Grand Island Dispatch, March 3, 2006

Ian O’Rourke and Jordan Stickl will represent the Grand Island Vikings Boys Swimming and Diving team at the New York State Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held today and tomorrow at the ECC Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo.

O’Rourke will compete in the 1-meter diving event. He recently qualified for his fifth straight state meet by winning his fourth straight Section VI diving title. O’Rourke’s dive score also earned him his third straight selection to the All-America team.

Stickl, who will swim in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle competitions this weekend, qualified last year as a sophomore swimming the backstroke leg for Grand Island’s 200-yard medley relay team, which currently holds Grand Island school and pool records.
