Salamone wins bronze Grand Island Dispatch, March 24, 2006 Grand Island sled hockey player Alexi Salamone returned with a bronze medal from the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino. A member of the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey team, Salamone scored one goal in the 4-3 victory over Germany on March 18, the last day of competition at the Paralympics. After losing to Germany 2-1 earlier in the tournament, Team USA broke a 3-3 tie in the third period to hold on for the victory. Salamone led the United States in tournament scoring with two goals and four assists. He also recorded nine shots on goal and racked up eight penalty minutes. |
