GI cheerleaders compete in national tournament

A group of Grand Island students participated in the Contest of Champions cheerleading competition, held on Feb. 26 at the Walt Disney Milk House in Orlando, Fla. The Niagara Lightning Flash all-star team placed second in the Senior Open Level 4 Division. The team included GI High School students Ashley Bleistein, Kaitlin Voltz and Ali King; and Veronica E. Connor Middle School students Jovana Bichler, Samantha Darby, Tory Fleming, Maria Guidotti, Jaime Magaris, Danielle Perri, Zakiyyah Wilbert and Sarah Young. Grand Island middle school teacher Lori Ohrum coached the squad.
