Stella Students enjoy ‘Le Petit Dejeuner’ Lewiston Porter Sentinel, February 11, 2006
Students in kindergarten and first grade at the Stella Niagara Educational Park recently sat down for “Le Petit Dejeuner” (little breakfast) in celebration of their last French class before beginning Spanish courses. The breakfast also served as a “teachable moment” or an opportunity for instructors that opens the door for teaching any young person about subjects that are necessary or important to discuss. During the breakfast, students learned not only about the French culture but also about each other’s culture as well. This experience helped the students’ understanding of how different cultures contribute to society in a positive way. Shown in the above photo (left to right) are Stella Niagara music instructor and French teacher Tim Aikin (center) serving Crepes Suzette to first graders (left to right) Asher Vaysblat, Angelica Priest and Elisabeth Manente. |
