Taste of Buffalo, Tops sponsor poster art contest

Tribune, Dispatch, Sentinel, February 9-11, 2006

Attention all young artists! Grab your art supplies and get drawing for the 2006 Taste of Buffalo Poster Art Contest. Tops Markets and the Taste of Buffalo’s Board of Directors invite high school students to be part of the Taste of Buffalo excitement by creating original artwork based on this year’s theme, “We Be Jammin’ On Delaware.” The contest is open to students in grades 9 to 12 currently enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school in Erie and Niagara counties.

“We consider the poster contest an important bridge between the Taste and the region’s youth,” said Sandra Lamphear, Taste of Buffalo 2006 chairman. “For three years now, our partnership with Tops Markets has helped spur some creative juices from our high-schoolers.”

All entries must include an image of a fork and an image of a buffalo (animal). The event’s Caribbean islands theme must also be conveyed. Completed entries should be mailed or hand-delivered to: “Taste of Buffalo Poster Art Contest,” Buffalo Alliance for Education, 275 Oak St. – Suite 220, Buffalo, NY 14203, Attn.: Pat Jensen. Entries must be received by March 17. For complete rules and eligibility requirements, visit www.topsmarkets.com.

Once all entries are submitted and judging is complete, the grand prize winner’s art will be used in the 2006 Taste of Buffalo official advertising, promotional and publicity materials being distributed throughout Western New York. Both the grand prizewinner and their school’s art department will receive $500 awards. The second prize is $150 in art supplies from Hyatt’s, and the third prize is an iPod shuffle.
