St. Peter’s students read 1,100 books Lewiston Porter Sentinel, January 7, 2006
In an effort to promote reading, Principal Mark Mambretti challenged the students of St. Peter’s School to read 1,000 books. If the students completed the challenge, Mambretti would sleep in the library. As it turned out, the students read more than 1,100 books through Dec. 1. Mike Randall of Channel 7 News presented the students his “Magic of Reading” program to honor both Mambretti and the students for reading so many books. Shown in the above photo is Randall (right), congratulating sixth-grade student Reid Okoniewski (center) and Mambretti, who is getting ready to spend the night sleeping in the school’s library. |
