NC seniors raise funds for Katrina victims Lewiston Porter Sentinel, January 28, 2006 The senior class at Niagara Catholic High School recently raised more than $1,000 with a “Rent-a-Senior” auction for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Participating seniors offered themselves up for auction to be “rented” for a day by another student or staff member. Some of the tasks seniors were asked to do for their “renters” included cleaning out lockers, carrying books and purses, waiting in line for lunch and doing office working. Doing a student’s homework, however, was not allowed. The Rev. Jerry Bartko, a member of the Niagara Catholic faculty, served as the auctioneer. The top two bids amounted to more than $70. |
