GI soccer alumnae earn All-Conference selections Grand Island Dispatch, January 27, 2006 Four former members of the Grand Island Vikings Girls Soccer program have been selected to the All- American Mideast Conference North team for Daemen College. Junior Kim Walker was named First Team All-AMC North after being a Second Team selection each of the past two years. Sophomore Amy Stewart was selected to the Second Team, while sophomores Cortney Bota and Lauren Nedwick received honorable mention selections. Walker set a new school record at Daemen with 19 goals during the 2005 season. Her nine assists gave her a total of 28 points. She ranked fourth in the AMC with 1.13 goals per game, eighth with 0.56 assists per game and fifth with 2.81 points per game. Stewart and Nedwick led the Daemen defense, which gave up only 2.25 goals per game, less than any women’s team in the college’s history. Bota, a midfielder, had two goals and two assists for the Wildcats. The Daemen women’s soccer team recorded its most successful season since its inception in 2000, going 10-8 and qualifying for the AMC playoffs. |
