Live music at NU Tribune, Dispatch, Sentinel, January 19-21, 2006 Niagara University’s Friday night Live Music Series returns to the “Under the Taps” lounge on Feb. 3 with a night of hip-hop featuring Detroit band Critical Bill. Two weeks later, "Fab Four" cover band BeatleMagic celebrates the best of the pop band’s famed career. On March 3, “Swing Dance Night” returns to NU as Jon Seiger and His All-Stars return to Monteagle Ridge. As an added bonus, swing dance lessons will be offered before the show. March 24 features “A Night of Hot Rock” with female-driven pop rockers The Juliet Dagger and Stutter. Alternatively, March 31 is “Christian Music Night.” It features some of the area’s best Gospel-inspired music in One Foot in Heaven, as well as Christian rapper Caution. The semester ends with a special “High School Rock Music Showcase,” sponsored by Jackson Music, on April 21. Five bands will be chosen to perform and compete for a $300 gift certificate to the music store. Moreover, a brand new guitar will also be raffled. To be considered for the high school showcase, band representatives should contact Fred Heuer, assistant vice president for marketing, at fjh@niagara.edu. Proceeds from the season’s finale will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. All shows are from 8 to 11 p.m. in the “Under the Taps” lounge in the Gallagher Center’s lower level. Entry is free for students, and a nominal door fee for visitors.
