“I Love Christmas in the Village” were the magic words Saturday in Youngstown during an event at the Red Brick Schoolhouse.

Approximately 100 attended the Holiday in the Village event, which featured a performance by magician and entertainer Donuts the Clown, followed by a visit from Santa and his elves.

Also on display at the event in the village recreation center gym were 50 to 60 packages from Lewiston Porter Central School placed under the Christmas tree with care. Called a “Box of Caring,” each individual package contained gifts from teachers, staff, and administrators at the school. The common theme to each package was a book. The packages will be distributed to local families in need.

According to Eileen O’Neil, a teacher at the high school and coordinator of the care package drive, this was the eighth year for the charitable event.

“They go to children in need within our community,” O’Neil said.
