Sue Ann Gardner again nominated for Reagan Gold Medal Award Grand Island Dispatch, December 9, 2005 She’s done it again. Grand Island’s Sue Ann Hall-Gardner, recipient of the Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal award in 2004, has been nominated to receive the honor for 2005. “I wanted to let you know that you’ve been nominated to receive the 2005 Ronald Reagan Gold Medal,” announced U.S. Rep. Thomas Reynolds R-NY-26th District, who also serves as chair of the National Republican Committee. “Congratulations,” Reynolds continued. “This is your second year in a row. It’s fantastic. In fact, it’s unprecedented.” Reyonolds together with the NRC had announced earlier that Hall-Gardner was again chosen for the honor. She joins other business leaders from throughout the U.S. being recognized for their “unyielding support of the president and Republican leadership.’ In addition all nominees are recognized for their contributions to the economic health of their respective communities, exemplifying Reagan’s vision of an entrepreneurial America. “This is an amazing accomplishment,” Reynolds added. Hall-Gardner serves as public relations director of Agro Statics Inc. of Grand Island, a company whose products are geared for eradication of poison ivy and undesirable weeds, while maintaining wildflowers along state highways and municipal right of ways. Hall-Gardner, the author of “Keeping Your pH Up” published in 1979 as a guide to help farmers save time and money, also assisted in re-writing pamphlets for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Markets aimed at improving efficiency for the farming community. She holds the distinction of being the first woman enrolled as a member of the National Crushed Stone Association. A fiery orator, she was the first woman to address a national meeting of the Tennessee Valley Authority. “After I spoke all men butted their cigars, clapped and gave me a standing ovation. It’s something I will always cherish,” said Hall-Gardner of the late 70s event. In addition to her position at Argo Statics, Hall-Gardner is also a member of the Kaleida DeGraff Women’s Auxiliary. |
