Toe Tappin’ Blues Grand Island Dispatch, December 16, 2005
Toe Tappin’ Blues is a performance that is part tap choreography and blues musical composition. Rhythm tap artist Jimmy Tate and Buffalo Blues musician, Rodney Appleby, performed to the third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade classes of St. Stephen’s School. The performance culminated in a series of presentations made to each class over the past couple of months. The students have learned about the relationship between the sound of the blues and the tapping sound of dance. Fourth-grade tap dancers joined the artists in a dance routine. The whole audience participated in a tap routine and enjoyed “tapping the Blues” with our visiting artists. |
