The Youngstown Garden Club has a busy month ahead.

Items of note lead off with its monthly meeting, Wednesday, June 8 at the First Presbyterian Church, 100 Church St., beginning at 7 p.m. The session is expected to include Virginia McEvoy from the Lewiston Garden Club, who will offer a discussion on “Shade Gardens.”

On Saturday, June 11, Youngstown Garden Club will be holding its largest fund-raiser of the year -- a Garden Shed Sale in the Youngstown Red Brick School gym from 9 a.m. to noon. And talk about the offerings.

This one is expected to feature such items as: perennial plants divided from members’ gardens; a variety of herbs and house plants; first-year perennials from local greenhouses; plus garden decorations, garden related yard sale items, flower arrangement supplies and even baked goods.

There will also be a raffle of plants donated by local garden centers, and experts will be on hand to answer whatever gardening questions may arise.

Youngstown Gardeners also would like to remind northern Niagara residents that Open Garden Week will run from Friday June 24 to Wednesday June 29 in Youngstown. Mark your calendars.
