A-1 lives up to billing Review
by Joshua Maloni If you have a lawn, heck if you have a dandelion in a Styrofoam cup on the windowsill, you need to visit A-1 Landcare. The recently opened Ridge Road nursery and full-service landscaping outfit is perfect for outdoor aficionados looking for that perfect seed, sapling or stone patio to install. With a knowledgeable staff – not a group of people pulled yesterday from tiling and grouting like at chain stores – led by owner Jason Lombardi’s 10-plus years as a landscaper, A-1 can service any outdoor job. In fact, with co-owner Mark Cerrone’s resources, the company can tear down and rebuild from scratch, as was the case at its 1527 Ridge Road headquarters. The site of the former Lombardi Dairy and a short-lived pizzeria, A-1 was built across eight acres using in-house manpower and resources in a remarkably short eight months. Even more impressive is the fact that no corners were cut. The building is clean, the outdoor fields are well-cropped and the indoor products are stacked neatly and orderly. Patrons interested in do-it-yourself gardening will find an assortment of flowers, plants, hanging baskets, yard supplies, seasonal goods, patio furniture and assorted types of mulch, topsoil and decorative stone. Landscapers will marvel at the ease of acquiring supplies via a computerized account, side entrances off the shopping floor and workers set just to service their needs. “Service and quality is our key,” Lombardi said. “The service, the quality is what is going to set us apart.” A-1 Landcare |
