Monday’s Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees meeting was all about insuring proper flow - sanitary and scenic.

Gary Roulley of North Water Street informed the board of leakage in his basement stemming from overfilled drain stations.

“I’ve had water in my basement five times in the four years I’ve been here,” he said. “There should be some sort of system.”

Dave Jacobs, superintendent of Public Works, told the board that, as is, systems alarming him to the problem are not working properly. As such, the problem can only be fixed after the fact. He, village engineers Mike Merino and Richard San Giacomo are investigating ways of properly proper notifying departments, including Jacobs’, of future run-over.

Parkway Preserved

Mayor Richard Soluri expressed his satisfaction that the Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council had announced no plans for scrapping the Robert Moses Parkway leading into the village in its latest five-year plan. He stated the importance of the roadway for businesses and tourists.

“We have to be vigilant about that,” Soluri said of parkway protection.
