2 Islanders elected to DeMolay posts

Grand Island Dispatch, April 15, 2005

Two Grand Islanders were among four area young men elected to leadership positions April 7 in Ridge Council Chapter, Order of DeMolay.

Joe Dombrowski, 15, of Tonawanda was elected master councilor and Grand Islanders Rob Sugar, 18, and Billy Koller, 14, were elected senior and junior councilor, respectively.

The chapter selected Michele Eggert of North Tonawanda as Chapter Sweetheart.

A public installation of officers will be held on Sunday, April 24 at 3 p.m. at 692 Ridge Road, Lackawanna. A dinner and reception will follow.

Founded in 1919, DeMolay, an international organization for young men age 12 to 21, uses local chapters as a "laboratory" setting for members to learn leadership skills, public speaking, time management and financial management. In addition to these skills, DeMolay offers an expansive social and athletic program. Each year, DeMolay chapters throughout the world undertake thousands of community service projects.

Local DeMolay chapters meet in Cheektowaga and Lackawanna and are now forming in Kenmore and other communities.
