Late Sunday morning, the skies over western Niagara County rapidly changed broad daylight into a black abyss. With winds up close to 90 mph, heavy rain and temporary hail hitting the towns of Niagara and Wheatfield, signs and trees crumbled before the storm, along with scattered electrical outages. Although the fast-moving storm left as quickly as it appeared, it certainly made its impact across the area with trees uprooted, roof-tops blown off, powerlines broken, and signs and billboards damaged.
