Area children help restocking Oppenheim Park pond Photos
by Chuck and Donna Cederman (cederman1@adelphia.net)
About 50 area children helped to restock the fish pond at Oppenheim Park in Wheatfield on April 8. Steve Zenzen (pictured above) of the New York state Fish Hatchery of Caledonia delivered 190 rainbow and 100 brown trout to the park. The 2-year-old fish were scooped from large tanks and put into 5-gallon pails before the children released them into the pond. Immediately after the fish were released, 14-year-old Jillian Roeser (pictured below) of North Tonawanda made the first catch of the day.
